Low-Fat Foods
Low-fat foods have a negative calorie content. This means they have fewer calories than their higher-fat counterparts. This is because they have less of a caloric density than higher-fat foods. For example, a small bag of M&Ms has 330 calories. A bowl of cereal with no milk has 30 calories. The amount of calories in a low-fat food is calculated by multiplying the calories in the entire serving by the number of calories per gram in fat. The number is then divided by 100. So, a half cup of cereal with no milk has 15 calories. This means that the M&Ms have about 130 calories per serving. In contrast, a half cup of cereal with milk has 30 calories. The M&Ms have about 150 calories per serving.

Low-calorie foods can help you lose weight and stay healthy. Most low-calorie foods have between 400 and1200 calories per serving. However, there are some healthy foods that have negative calories. Foods that are high in glycemic index are typically low in fiber and protein, and contain lot of added sugar. These foods cause a spike in blood sugar levels quickly after eating or drinking.
Negative Calorie Foods
It is estimated that we are about 3,000 calories per day below our maintenance calorie level. There are certain foods that burn more calories and are considered negative calorie foods. These foods tend to be high in energy and kilojoules. The most common negative calorie foods include shellfish, dairy products, fish, beef, pork, nuts and seeds. These foods are higher in protein and fat and thus tend to be higher in calories.
Protein-Rich Foods
There are a few foods that have a net negative calorie balance. One of the most recognizable is a diet high in protein. A high-protein diet is typically low in carbohydrates and high in fat. It is not recommended to consume a high protein diet. There are other foods that have a net negative calorie balance as well. These include: yogurt, chocolate, oatmeal, chicken, eggs, and bacon.
